I've gotten the front fenders and front suspension crossmember off and am
making a steel tubing list to replace the front structure.
These are pictures of the inner fender areas. The gaping holes are supposed
to have sections welded in for structural support.
In this car, they were held in place with a few small machine screws. Next, we
are going to drop the drivetrain and remove the old front underchassis to make
repairs to get ready for the new suspension.
Michael removed all the attaching hardware and prepares to pull the engine.
He tilts the engine/trans package so it clears the radiator support and then
places it on a pallet. In it's place will go a 302 crate engine w/AOD.
Michael removes the remaining components in preparation for the removal
of the complete front sub-structure. The new tubing front structure will be
based on MII allowing great geometry, R&P steering, easily available parts
including upgrades if later desired. It will also clean up what is a very
crowded engine compartment.
