Superformance Cobra MarkIII

dcp01816.jpg (56328 bytes)

Tom and Peter, of Speed Channel's Dream Car Garage took an "up close and personal look"
of Superformance's 427 Cobra Roadster in 2004 and toured their factory in South Africa. The
Dream Car Garage guys concluded, "Superformance Mark III is our Modern Dream Car."

Why Superformance?

Woodsy fell in love with Superformance "replicars" for a couple of reasons.

  • First, they're factory-built, with a ten-year track record of reliability and customer care.
As he's seen over and over with "kit cars", the final quality depends on who turned the wrench.
  • Superformance design lines are true to the sensuous original Cobras. And, as important,
Superformance delivers the safety and speed advances found in modern sports roadsters.
  • Don't just take our word for it.  Bob Bondurant, who drove Shelby team cars to the
World GT Championship in 1965, uses Superformance roadsters at his driving school.
When asked about the Superformance roaster, Bondurant said "It handles better than
the original, and it's just as bulletproof."
      Nice verdict from Bondurant!

#1726 is ready to finish to your specs.  Your choice of new engine and transmission,
or Woodsy can install a rebuilt original 428  2-4 bbl carb engine from a 1967 GT500.

Woodsy sent the rotating assembly to Brian, at Main Street Machine Racing Engines
to balance.

This photo below shows the factory flywheel,  laid on top of the Mcleod flywheel.
The weight marked on the factory wheel was transferred over to the Mcleod ring gear.
See the factory weight between the yellow crayon marks on the left.

This shows the position of the balance weight  that Brian relocated,
and shows where it is in relationship to the factory weight that is cast
in to the fly wheel (note: it is almost dead center between the yellow
crayon marks).

This shows the relocated weight and the original position
where the weight was mounted from Mcleod (off by almost
90 degrees, marked with a black felt tip X.)

When he finishes up a couple of the current projects in the shop,
Woodsy will attach a Tremec HD 5 speed gearbox shifted through
an original style reverse bent shifter.

Come by to "kick the tires" when you are in the area  Or, schedule a
build time for Woodsy to install and test the engine of your choice.

Email woodsy@gearheadcity.com or call (217) 684-2400.

If you have trouble calling from a cell phone, try your regular phone.
If you get the answering machine, please leave us a message. We're
probably doing something noisy in the shop & can't hear the phone.
